Thanks to a grant from First Things First, a new series of programs for the family can help. They will be informative and fun for you and your child, and you’ll gets lots of free stuff like helpful books and toys. Select when, where and a time that works best for you and your child. You'll be Knowing & Growing together!

Knowing & Growing Programs

Books Can

Books Can….
(ages 0-5 / limit 20 children / 45 min / 6-week series)
This six-week storytime series uses popular picture books to promote children’s social and emotional development and to address challenging behaviors. All families receive a book each week.


Brain Time for Babies and Toddlers

Brain Time for Babies and Toddlers
Babies: (ages 0-18 mos / limit 10 children / 40 min / 3-week series)
Toddlers: (ages 18-36 mos / limit 15 children / 40 min / 3-week series)

Join us in a special storytime program designed to introduce parents to the ABCs of early learning: Attention, Bonding, and Communication. At the end of the 3-week session, each family will receive a copy of Dr. Jill Stamm’s book, Bright From the Start.


Common Sense Parenting

Common Sense Parenting
(ages 0-5 / limit 35 adults, 60 min / 7-week series)
Sometimes being a parent can be challenging! Topics covered in this seven-week workshop include: understanding child development, setting expectations, using consequences and timeouts, teaching social skills, preventing and correcting misbehavior and temper tantrums, nurturing and praise, and basic behavioral principles. All families will receive a training binder and a set of skills cards.


Fun With Math & Science

Fun With Math & Science
(ages 2-5 / 45 min / limit 20 children)
In this fun and interactive class, you will learn easy ways to involve children in science and math activities. Each session includes a hands-on component and every child who is registered will receive a book each week.


Get Ready to Read

Get Ready to Read
(ages 0-5 / limit 20 children / 45 min / 6-week series)
Did you know that children get ready to read long before they start school? One of the six essential early literacy skills is highlighted at each storytime session, and families receive a book to keep each week! Registration required for child only.


Stay and Play

Stay and Play
(ages 0-5 / no limits / 60 min / 6-week series)
Community Experts discuss topics such as early literacy, child development, speech and hearing, nutrition, social/emotional development, and play and movement in this playgroup setting.
