Library Fee Change Notifications

Notice of library fees change, effective July 1, 2020

  • Overdue fines are eliminated.
  • Unclaimed hold fees ($1.00 for each item not picked up) are eliminated.
  • Collection agency fees are eliminated.
  • An unreturned item is considered lost 10 days after the due date. The cost of the item is charged to the account.
  • Returning the item in good condition will remove the charge.

Notice of library fees change, effective July 1, 2015

  • The fee charged for permanent non-residents of Maricopa County has increased from $30 to $43.

Notice of library fees change, effective June 18, 2014

  • Patrons are delinquent when their accounts reach $10.00.
  • All library debts are discharged when listed in a patron's bankruptcy.
  • Patrons may be given a refund within 30 days of payment for lost items. Return of the library item in reusable condition and proof of payment showing method of payment are required for a refund. Processing fees are non-refundable.
  • Patrons will be notified by mail, email or text when the requested item is available. There is a limit of 12 holds per account.

Notice of library fees change, effective August 1, 2013

  • Increase the Collection Agency Fee from $10 to $15.
  • Charge patrons $1 for each hold that is not picked up by the due date.

Notice of library fees change, effective July 1, 2010

  • Permanent non-residents of Maricopa County are now eligible for a Scottsdale Public Library card upon payment of an annual fee of $30.
  • Library cards for permanent non-residents of Maricopa County will expire annually.
  • Patrons are delinquent when their accounts reach $15.00.
  • Patrons no longer have the option to replace lost or damaged materials but will be charged the cost of the item.
  • Maximum overdue fine for adult materials moves to $10.00 per item (children’s and teen materials remain at $5.00 per item).
