Knowasis and Teen Spaces

All library locations offer welcoming spaces and study rooms designed with teens in mind. Appaloosa, Arabian and Mustang Libraries feature dedicated teen areas equipped with computers, teen book collections and tables for teens to study or hang out. During weekday afternoons when school is in session, study rooms at Appaloosa and Arabian Library are reserved exclusively for teen use. While these areas are created especially for teens, they are open and welcoming to visitors of all ages.

In addition, Knowasis at Civic Center is a dedicated teen-only space for ages 12-18. It features gaming consoles and select video games and board games for teens to enjoy. College and Career Corner is also located within Knowasis. While visitors outside this age range are welcome to visit and browse the collection, we kindly ask that they not remain in the space for extended periods.

Teen Advisory Board (TAB)

Scottsdale Public Library’s Teen Advisory Board (TAB) is a group of teen advocates who meet regularly with a library TAB facilitator. TAB offers input on library services, co-design library programs, conducts community outreach and facilitate communications/creations that represent the community of teens at Scottsdale Public Library. Teens can earn hours of service towards their junior high and high school community service hour requirements.

Teen Volunteers

Through the Scottsdale Public Library Teen Volunteer program, teens gain real job experience in a fun and educational environment while providing valuable service to the library, positively impacting the community. This program allows teens to earn documented volunteer hours with the library. Teens must be at least 14 years old to be a teen volunteer.

The Teen School Year Volunteer program runs during the school year from September to May while the Teen Summer Volunteer program runs in the summer from May to August. Teens must apply to the programs separately.
