Library Card Design Winner Announced at Ultimate Family Play Date

This year’s contest invited children ages 5–8 to create a design for a library card. Luna, age 6, was selected as the winner from more than 80 submissions. Her artwork will be featured on a limited-edition Scottsdale Public Library card available next spring.

During this year’s Ultimate Family Play Date event on Saturday, Dec. 6, Scottsdale Public Library welcomed nearly 5,000 people. This free, play-filled event featured 50 interactive booths with art, science, physical play and literacy building activities. Highlights included dance parties with beloved book characters, holiday photos with the Grinch and Disney princesses, chalk art, face painting and balloon animals, live magic shows and more. A new addition this year was the Youth Entrepreneur Market, in partnership with Scottsdale Unified School District and Scottsdale Chamber of Commerce, where SUSD students showcased and sold their own creations.

Overall, this year’s Ultimate Family Play Date was a great success and strengthened literacy and learning through play. This year’s event was part of Scottsdazzle and was made possible through the generous support of the Friends of the Scottsdale Public Library, Scottsdale Tourism and Scottsdale Parks and Recreation.
