Early Literacy Programs

Helping your child get ready to read is fun! Join us at one or more of our programs especially designed for your child ages 0 – 5.
Learn how to share books, songs and rhymes while singing, dancing and having fun together.


Dads and Tots Storytimes (ages 0-5 / 30 min / limit 15 children)
This storytime is designed for dads and their tots to enjoy together.

Family Storytimes (all ages / 30 min)
Listen to stories and participate in finger plays, music and rhyming activities.

Little Libros (all ages / 30 min / limit 30 children)
Join us for fun songs, stories and rhymes in English & Spanish. No prior knowledge of Spanish needed!

Shake, Rattle & Roll (all ages / 30 min / Limit 30 children)
Sing, move and groove to music that will make you smile.

Story Stop (ages 0-5 / 15 min)
A short program of stories for children 0-5 years and their caregivers. No registration necessary.

Time for Twos and Threes (ages 2-3 / 30 min / limit 20 children)
An early childhood program that matches children’s natural inclination toward rhythm and rhymes with early literacy skills.

Tiny Tot Time (ages 0-24 mos / 30 min / limit 15 children)
An early literacy program that uses rhymes and songs to help children get ready to read.

The Scottsdale Library was awarded a grant from First Things First to bring the Knowing & Growing Series to you. Knowing & Growing helps you and your children overcome a variety of early childhood issues, while having fun while learning new skills.

Read On Scottsdale

Read On Scottsdale

Read on Scottsdale was formed to support Read On Arizona by the Scottsdale Public Library and Scottsdale Unified School District to show that Scottsdale supports its students by providing resources and help for anyone in need of assistance to achieve the third grade reading benchmark. We are working together to address the challenges in improving reading achievement in Scottsdale – particularly among our at-risk children – including developing solutions for certain critical areas of focus such as: Family Engagement, School Readiness, Early Grade Success, and Community Awareness/Mobilization.
