Bright Blue Boxes provides engaging, listening and viewing experiences for older adults in residential, nursing and social facilities. Staff and library volunteers deliver the distinctive library boxes containing pre-selected titles in large and regular print books, CD audiobook and DVD formats.
Participants are given a month to read, listen or watch the selection, then on the subsequent visit, discussions take place facilitated by library staff or library volunteers.
The Bright Blue Boxes are exchanged every month for another title set. Participants benefit because reading and literacy are important to their socialization and cognitive skills. Volunteers and staff benefit because of their engagement in these fulfilling activities. If your facility is interested in participating in the Bright Blue Box program
