ReVentures Volunteer Opportunities
The Scottsdale Public Library announces the beginning of an innovative volunteer program.
ReVentures is a new program, designed specifically to address the modern needs of individuals in the "boomers" age group, those born between 1946 and 1964. The ReVentures program invites boomers to utilize their professional skill sets in innovative ways throughout the Library system.
"We want people to use their life skills in productive and inspirational ways" explained Kathy Coster, ReVentures project manager and Library Manager for Innovation. "This program will help the library reach out to the community in a proactive manner while fulfilling the needs of multiple audiences, including special needs and young children."
The program is being managed for the first year by the Maricopa County Volunteer Center. The ReVentures program is supported with funds granted by the Arizona State Library, Archives, and Public Records Agency under the Library Services and Technology Act, which is administered by the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
The first part of the project is to form a leadership team to provide a platform for successfully using the skills and meeting the needs of this generation. Leadership Team volunteers will set program goals and objectives, provide program oversight and assist with program expansion and volunteer recruitments.
