Interlibrary Loan (ILL)

ILL is a service allowing library items or a photocopy to be made available from one library to another, according to the policies of the American Library Association.

Guidelines
Interlibrary Loan service is available to any Scottsdale Library card holder.  Materials that MAY be requested through ILL include:

  • fiction and non-fiction books published more than 12 months ago
  • magazine and journal articles
  • microfilm (to be used at Civic Center Library only)
  • genealogy materials
New books, media, reference books, entire issues of magazines or journals, materials held outside of the US and anything already owned by the Scottsdale Public Library are not eligible to be requested via ILL.  Please note that it may take from three to eight weeks to receive your item through ILL. Most items can be picked up at any Scottsdale Public Library location.
Fees and Charges
Scottsdale Public Library does not charge for interlibrary loan services and is able to fill most requests through other non-charging libraries. Some libraries, however, do charge fees ranging from $5 to $20. These costs are passed on to the borrower.
