The Chorus

Film Series (France / subtitled / PG-13 / 96 Minutes) Description: French producer and musician Christophe Barratier makes his directorial debut with the drama Les Choristes, inspired by the 1947 film La Cage aux Rossignols. Wildly successful orchestra conductor Pierre Morhange (Jacques Perrin) returns home when his mother dies. He recollects his childhood inspirations through the pages of a diary kept by his old music teacher Clément Mathieu (Gérard Jugnot). Back in the late '40s, little Pierre (Jean-Baptiste Maunier) is the badly behaved son of single mother Violette (Marie Bunel). He attends a dreary boarding school presided over by strict headmaster Rachin (François Berléand). New teacher Mathieu brightens up the place and organizes a choir, leading to the discovery of Pierre's musical talents. Featuring performances by Les Petits Chanteurs de Saint-Marc Choir. Les Choristes was shown at the Berlin Film Festival in 2004. Actors: Gérard JugnotJean-Baptiste MaunierFrançois BerléandMaxence PerrinKad MeradMarie Bunel

The 2015 Summer Reading Program kicks off with this well-known Arizona artist, author and editor of the Tru West magazine as he shares his story and book, The 66 Kid; Raised on the Mother Road: Growing Up on Route 66, the World's Most Famous Two-Lane Blacktop. Lifelong resident of Kingman and other Route 66 communities, The 66 Kid is part autobiography, part narrative history and part oral history from neon-lit motels to greasy spoon diners and shady roadside attractions. The book is richly illustrated with period postcards and photos, as well as the authors own maps and art created for this project. The Kid proves that you can still get your kicks on Route 66!

The Chorus

Film Series (France / subtitled / PG-13 / 96 Minutes) Description: French producer and musician Christophe Barratier makes his directorial debut with the drama Les Choristes, inspired by the 1947 film La Cage aux Rossignols.
