READ Local - Arizona Author Collection

READ Local - Arizona Author Collection

Now you not only can eat locally, but you can read locally also.

In the spirit of the Eat Local movement, the Scottsdale Public Library is piloting a new READ Local - Arizona Author Collection in order to showcase the emerging literary efforts of our community, introduce readers to unique homegrown talent that is not yet nationally known, and give local authors a tangible way to connect with Arizona readers. This special circulating collection will be housed at the Civic Center Library and will feature youth, teen and adult fiction and nonfiction materials.

Arizona authors of all ages are encouraged to submit their publications for consideration. Authors will be notified by email within 60 days regarding the status of their submission.

Are there Humans in the McDowells?

The Human McDowells

Ever wonder what Hohokam women, today’s career women and stay-at-home moms have in common? Or how desperate housewives who lived here in the 1870s survived without air conditioning, ice or Basha’s? Or about the unsolved murder in the shadow of the Mayo Clinic? The Human McDowells is a survey of the archaeological, anthropological and historical heritage of the McDowell mountains from an often untold perspective.
