Proposed 2011/2012 Budget

On March 1, 2011 the City Manager’s office released its proposed budget for the Fiscal Year (FY) 2011/2012 for the City of Scottsdale. The Fiscal Year in Scottsdale runs from July 1, 2011 thru June 30, 2012. Due to the economic climate over the past few years, the City of Scottsdale faces a budget shortfall that is just short of $30 million dollars.

You can read the proposed budget in its entirety at www.scottsdaleaz.gov/finance

Proposed cuts to the Scottsdale Public Library intially were just under $1 Million dollars for FY 2011/2012. That included a reduction of the materials budget and a reduction in staff, resulting in reduced service hours to the public.

On the night of May 10, 2011 City Council reviewed the proposed cuts to the Scottsdale Public Library. They rejected any proposed changes in hours of operations and material budget cuts. City Council directed City Staff not to reduce any of the library services to the citizens of Scottsdale.

This may change as the budget process continues. Please check back to this budget page for more information.
