| Construction is complete for the expansion of the Arabian Branch Library, a 2000 Bond CIP project, located in McDowell Mountain Ranch Park. The previous Arabian Library, a 8,400 square foot shared use facility on the campus of Desert Canyon Schools, has been replaced with a 20,000 square foot standalone public library, to alleviate security and public service concerns in the joint use arrangement. The new library will serve the community with expanded collections, public meeting rooms, public access computers, an expanded children's area with storytime room, group study rooms, a teen space and a coffee bar. Construction of the $10.3 million facility was completed in August 2007 and the library opened to the public on September 4, 2007.
